An Aviator glossary for the aileron
Terms we use when we write about the three App Store cards. Jump by letter.
A
- Aileron
- Our desk metaphor — the surface we tilt when we re-check an Aviator shortlist.
- Age rating
- The App Store label (9+, 13+, …) plus any violence descriptors shown on the card.
- App Privacy
- Apple’s privacy nutrition labels. Missing details are reported as missing, never guessed.
- Aviator
- Our keyword for flight-facing sessions — arcade craft and tower traffic — phrased naturally in titles.
B
- Bundle id
- The reverse-DNS string on the listing (for example com.junea.strikers1945saga).
- Bullet hell
- Dense enemy fire patterns in vertical shooters; relevant to STRIKERS-style nights.
C
- Checked date
- The day we last opened the live store card — currently 22 October 2026.
- Craft session
- A short Aviator run focused on flying and shooting rather than tower management.
I
- In-App Purchases
- Optional paid items flagged on the store card. All three shortlisted apps show this label.
- Install counter
- A public download total. The App Store does not publish one; we never invent it.
L
- Listing facts
- Only fields visible on the store: stars, size, version, OS, languages, update date.
R
- Ranking
- Order by App Store US star average on the check date for this Mode B desk.
- Review
- Our long Q&A article per ranked app, linked from every ranking card.
S
- Shortlist
- The three apps we keep on the aileron after the methodology pass.
- Star average
- The rating score shown on the App Store US card, paired with the rating count.
T
- Tower shift
- Airport Madness-style play: sequencing aircraft instead of dodging bullets.
V
- Vertical shooter
- Arcade action scrolling upward; the core of STRIKERS 1945 SAGA on this desk.
- Version string
- The exact version number copied from the listing on the checked date.
